Transportation of consumer electronics and home appliances
The main cargo flow of consumer electronics and home appliances is accounted for by imports from China and Southeast Asian countries. Less frequently, these are EU and US countries.
By transportation from China, the main type of transport is sea (container cargo transportation through the ports of the Russian Federation and the EU), as well as rail transport (accelerated railway trains from China). For urgent deliveries, air transport is used for transportation – airliners and freighters – depending on the volume of cargo being transported.

It should be noted that the products of the Hi Tech market belong to the category of fragile cargoes. Fragile cargo is subject to mechanical damage during transportation. Therefore, the conditions of their transportation necessarily include the taking of internal and external protection measures.
Internal methods of protection include devices and materials that are individually packed together with the item. In boxes with household appliances and electronics, a packing profile made of foam is placed, which fits tightly to the product and fills the voids between it and the walls of the box. Small electronics are wrapped in pull pack (“bubble wrap”). Other methods of internal protection include the use of foam, multi-layer packaging paper, polymer granules. Internal protection is provided by the manufacturer of household appliances and electronics.
The carrier is responsible for organizing external security measures. Protecting fragile Hi-Tech products from damage helps crate plywood or wooden boards, securing the load on the pallet with stretch film (palletizing), fixing floor latches and belts. Household appliances and electronics are transported in boxes made of solid or corrugated board, bags made of non-woven textiles or multi-layer paper, in rigid packaging. To ensure a strong fixation of the cargo and protection from mechanical damage, gaskets made of shock-absorbing materials are placed between the cargo and the container. Rules for the transportation of household appliances prescribe to apply special markings on containers with fragile goods. Boxes and boxes are marked with distinctive symbols. Distinctive signs indicate the nature of the cargo, contain spatial landmarks and other information that warns about the special properties of the cargo.

All household appliances and electronics belong to the 85th group of the CUSTOMS Union.
Customs duties are set individually for different types of household appliances: 5% – vacuum cleaners, 10% – irons, 15% – microwave ovens. In General, customs fees do not exceed 15% of the customs value of the goods.
- For GSM-electronics (smartphones, tablets, laptops), the duty is from 0 to 5% of the customs value of the goods.
- VAT is paid at the rate of 18% of the customs value.
- By clearance of the most equipment and electronics from Europe and the United States, you must show the permission of the right holder to transport the goods.
- Each item must be accompanied by instruction in Russian language.
- In addition to the customs declaration, certificates of compliance with technical regulations (Regulations “On the safety of low-voltage equipment”, Regulations “Electromagnetic compatibility of technical means”) are attached.
Mandatory certification of household appliances is necessary to ensure the safety of residents of the Russian Federation, who will later be sold this product. Therefore, the laws of our country have very strict requirements for the availability of correctly issued certificates for each type of household appliances.
